Anica called Utah home for over seven years, building a life as an Elite Professional/Private Ski Coach and creating a warm, light-filled space for her loved ones to gather. Losing this was one of the most painful parts of her journey. The dry climate and poor air quality of Utah severely impacted her skin, a fact that became undeniable whenever she visited more humid environments.
Eventually, she was forced to sell everything and seek out gentler climates. She tried Australia and Mexico, only to face new barriers that exacerbated her health challenges, before finally landing in California. Within weeks, her mental and physical health still deteriorated further. Sleepless nights, painful flare-ups, and panic attacks led to noise complaints, resulting in a three-day eviction notice—just two months after moving in. With no provable income and credit devastated by medical expenses, she was left scrambling for shelter.
Thanks to the generosity of her church community, she found temporary, reduced-cost housing. Some members made personal sacrifices to ensure she had a roof over her head while continuing her treatment with Dr. Fong. Yet, the constant displacement takes a devastating toll, repeatedly setting back her progress. Anica longs for stability, and we are working tirelessly to help her secure a safe, lasting home.
